Description:

Become a member of a dynamic team at our friendly campus-based business
school. The faculty of Information Management is seeking to fill the position
of Professor (W2) English/Head of the Language Centre

Your tasks:
The Language Centre at HNU is a central organ of the university & is located
at the faculty of Information Management. HNU currently offers a number of
English Language master’s programmes, & mandatory, subject-specific English
courses are part of every bachelor’s programme. The head of the Language
Centre is responsible for the strategic development of language training at
the HNU, including:
- Further development of the curriculum, including course-specific language
instruction across all faculties & bachelor’s/master’s programmes for students
with heterogeneous language backgrounds, with a focus on the introduction of
innovative teaching methods (blended learning/online courses/digital testing)
- Development & implementation of language support during the initial phases
of study for bachelor’s & master’s programmes for German-speaking students &
for international exchange & degree-seeking students, as well as accompanying
language skills support in areas such as academic writing, intercultural
communication, or job applications
- Preparation of students for intercultural contact & cooperation with
international universities & companies, whether as part of their studies or as
preparation for the transition between university & career
- Promotion of the ongoing internationalisation activities at HNU in the areas
of research, teaching & administration, & English language communication in
teaching & research
- Personnel management responsibility for four full-time language lecturers &
more than 20 freelance instructors, as well as responsibility for the budget
of the Language Centre as a whole

Our expectations:
- Applicants should have experience working in an English language
environment, preferably in an international business environment or
English-speaking business culture. Demonstrable skills & experience with
budgetary & personnel responsibilities are equally important
- An interest in media, communications, & the challenges to the global
employment market in times of digital transformation would be desirable. The
successful candidate will be expected to play an active role within university
institutions
- The working language is German. B-level German is a minimum requirement

Our requirements:
- A university degree
- A strong track record of academic achievement in linguistics and/or the
English language, generally proven via a PhD
- Excellent teaching skills
- Exceptional achievements in the development or application of scientific
methods or knowledge during a minimum of five years of work experience, at
least three years of which must have been outside of a higher education
environment. In special cases, the acquisition of work experience may be
proven when, over a period of more than five years, a significant proportion
of the work experience was gained as part of a cooperation between a higher
education institution & business

Appointment as a professor (civil servant) is only possible up to the age of
