Doctoral Summer School in TESOL & Applied Linguistics

Focus: The Doctoral Summer School will offer doctoral students in TESOL and Applied Linguistics the chance to further develop their research skills, fine-tune their own projects and learn about a range of contemporary key issues in the field. The Summer School will give participants the confidence to engage in leading discussions and studies as researchers operating within the global context of the TESOL and Applied Linguistics community.
Minimum Education Level: MA


Special Qualifications:
In order for students to be eligible to attend the Summer School, they need to be enrolled on a Doctoral Programme in TESOL or Applied Linguistics at a Higher Education Institution. Applications from students about to begin a Doctorate in TESOL or Applied Linguistics might also be accepted.


Description:
The workshops and seminars forming part of the Summer School will be
facilitated by a number of international academics. These include Professor
Lourdes Ortega from Georgetown University, Dr Sue Garton from Aston
University, UK, Dr Judith Hanks and Dr Carol Griffiths from the University of
Leeds, UK, Dr Pascual Perez-Paredes from the University of Cambridge, UK, as
well as Dr Odette Vassallo, Dr Daniel Xerri and Dr Sarah Grech from the
University of Malta.

Some of the topics that the Summer school will focus on include:

- Identifying research issues in the TESOL and Applied Linguistics community
- Drafting and piloting research questions
- Using mixed methods in research
- Innovative methodologies in research
- Writing and publishing research
- Presenting and networking at TESOL and Applied Linguistics conferences
- Building an academic profile as a researcher
- Bridging research and practice in the TESOL and Applied Linguistics context
- Leveraging the impact of TESOL and Applied Linguistics research

The Online Expression of Interest Form

Application Deadline for Submission of Interest Form: 08 March 2019 midnight
CET.

Notice of acceptance will be sent by: 22 March 2019 midnight CET.

Once the organisers have notified you that your application has been accepted
you must fill in the Doctoral Summer School Online Registration Form.

Application Deadline for Submission: 10 May 2019 midnight CET.
