Meeting Description:

The purpose of the SCLC is to advance the study and teaching of languages from
the Siouan and Caddoan language families. Paper submissions related to the
linguistic description of Siouan and/or Caddoan languages are encouraged, as
are paper submissions, panel discussions, or workshops relating to methods and
noteworthy issues in the teaching of Siouan or Caddoan languages.


Call for Papers:

The Department of Languages & Literature at Northeastern State University
(NSU) will host the 39th annual Siouan & Caddoan Languages Conference (SCLC)
on the NSU’s Broken Arrow campus in Broken Arrow, OK, USA from May 30 through
May 31, 2019.

Each year the SCLC brings together linguists, anthropologists, indigenous
language speakers and educators, and other scholars to promote the study and
teaching of the languages within the Siouan and Caddoan language families. We
welcome papers, panel discussions, and workshops dealing with the linguistic
description and pedagogical concerns of these languages, as well as the
anthropology, archaeology, art, ethnography, ethnobotany, folklore, history,
music, sociology, and traditional beliefs of the many tribal groups associated
with these languages.

The deadline for title, type (i.e., paper, panel, or workshop), and abstract
submissions is April 15, 2019. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words,
including any bibliographical material. Inquiries, registrations, and
abstracts for consideration should be sent to mcbridej [AT] nsuok [DOT] edu;
please limit any attachments to either .pdf or .doc(x) files. A proceedings
volume for accepted papers is planned, and details relating to this volume
will follow the conference date.

Registration is encouraged before April 30, 2019, and a registration fee
payable in cash or check will be collected at the conference site from all
participants to cover catering expenses. Other lodging and conference details
