Meeting Description:

The Department of English Philology of the University of Valladolid is
delighted to host the 31st International Conference of SELIM, the Spanish
Society for Medieval English Language and Literature, to be held in Valladolid
on 19-21 September 2019.

This three-day international conference will bring together a selection of
scholars and researchers who will engage in conversation around the
disciplines fostered by SELIM, namely, Old and Middle English language and
literature, the medieval history of the British Isles, the transmission of
their cultural legacy, and the theories and methods to address them.

Papers on English Historical Linguistics, discussing current trends, theories,
and methods of the field, from phonology to syntax, semantics and pragmatics,
are particularly welcome.


Call for Papers:

SELIM, the Spanish Society for Medieval English Language and Literature, and
the local Organising Committee, cordially invite members of the Society and
all scholars interested in the field to send their contributions for its 31st
International Conference, which will be held at the University of Valladolid,
Spain, on 19-21 September 2019.

Prof Susan Irvine (University College London)
Prof Richard Sharpe (University of Oxford)
Prof Maria Jose Lopez-Couso (University of Santiago de Compostela)
Prof Eva von Contzen (University of Freiburg)

Paper Proposals:

The organisers welcome individual paper proposals dealing with any aspect of:

Old and Middle English language and literature,
the medieval history the British Isles,
the transmission of their cultural legacy, and
the theories and methods to address them.

Papers on English Historical Linguistics, discussing current trends, theories,
and methods of the field, from phonology to syntax, semantics and pragmatics,
are particularly welcome.

Submissions:

Send your proposal via e-mail to selim31 at uva.es. The final deadline for
submissions is Tuesday 30 April 2019.

By 31 May, you will be notified if your proposal has been accepted.
