Call Deadline: 30-Jun-2019

Meeting Description:

In this 6th International Conference, we are inviting scholars, researchers,
students and policy makers to dialogue on theories, ideas, and practices that
address the disruptive nature of multilingualism and propose innovative
pedagogies. Teachers and practitioners from a range of languages that include
Sign Language, are especially encouraged to attend and present their best
practices.

Call for Papers:

There is little debate around the fact that the nations of the world have
always been multilingual in nature. Not everyone has, however, come to accept
this sociolinguistic reality. Instead, monolingual ideologies continue to
construe multilingualism as a social ill that has to be controlled to preserve
the pristine models of monolingualism. The advent of increased mobility in the
early part of the 21st Century has created disruptive schooling environments
where monolingual classroom practices are exponentially becoming
unsustainable. In this 6th International Conference, we are inviting scholars,
researchers, students and policy makers to dialogue on theories, ideas, and
practices that address the disruptive nature of multilingualism and propose
innovative pedagogies. Teachers and practitioners from a range of languages
that include Sign Language, are especially encouraged to attend and present
their best practices.

We call for papers and posters falling in any of the following subthemes:

- Translanguaging/multilanguaging

- Multilingual Literacies
- Bilingualism and Bilingual Education

- Language in Education Policy
- Minority Languages and Human Rights Issues
- African Literacy Paradigms
- Multilingual Sign Language pedagogies
