Description:
The 19th International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter 2019
will take place in Bonn, Germany, July 1-5.

Interest in both research on humour and practical applications of humour has
increased sharply in recent decades. The aims and objectives for the
International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter 2019 are to
ensure that both students just starting their research careers and those
already-trained researchers considering a first project on humour will enter
the field with a strong foundation in existing theoretical and methodological
issues and will be well versed in the pitfalls confronting the scientific
study of humour.

For those interested in practical applications of humour in a variety of
applied settings, the course will introduce them to the kinds of approaches
that are being used around the world to put humour to work and to deliver the
benefits of humour and laughter.
The 19th Summer School invites all students in the sciences and humanities who
are interested in new humour projects.

As a Summer School tradition, the Symposium invites the participants to
present their own work, gaining experience and getting valuable feedback on
their concepts and ideas.

The Summer School 2019 in Bonn is pleased to announce that the following
top-class guests of the international academic and applied humor landscape
participate. Look forward to:
Jessica Milner-Davis (University of Sydney and Clare Hall Cambridge),
Willibald Ruch (University of Zurich), Graeme Ritchie (University of
Aberdeen), Helga Kotthoff (University of Freiburg), Evelyn Ferstl (University
of Freiburg), René Proyer (University of Halle-Wittenberg), Tabea Scheel
(University of Flensburg), Corinna Peifer (University of Bochum), Tobias Esch
(University of Witten/Herdecke), Christian F. Hempelmann (Texas A&M University
Commerce), Holger Kersten (University of Magdeburg), Eckart von Hirschhausen
