Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto invites
applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow to work under the supervision
of Arsalan Kahnemuyipour with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research
Council of Canada funded project on the Syntax of Nominal Linkers (SSHRC #
435-2018-0527). The Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Postdoctoral Fellowship in
Iranian Linguistics is funded by the SSHRC grant and a generous donation from
Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute. 

The successful candidate should have earned a PhD in linguistics, with syntax
as their area of specialization, by the start date. Preference will be given
to individuals with prior research on the syntax of one or more Iranian
languages and/or on nominal linkers. Native or near-native fluency in one or
more Iranian languages is considered an asset.  

The initial term of the appointment will be for one year with a possibility of
renewal for another year. The salary will be CAD $37,000 (plus benefits) per
year.

filled. The start date is September 1, 2019. International candidates with
strong English language skills are encouraged to apply.

The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral
fellow recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and
the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the
performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.

Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by
the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement. This job is posted in
