The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at
Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer in
Spanish beginning Fall semester 2019.  

One year contract, renewable. M.A. or equivalent in Spanish required; Ph.D.
preferred. Normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. 

We seek dynamic candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety
of language and culture courses at the college level and with training in
second language acquisition and pedagogy. Native or near-native proficiency in
Spanish and English as well as experience teaching Spanish at the university
level are required.  

Special consideration will be given to candidates with an ability to develop
and teach intermediate and advanced-level courses for heritage speakers of
Spanish. Experience or willingness to teach beginning and intermediate Spanish
language courses online is a plus.  

SMU is global research university located in the heart of Dallas, one of the
country’s most vibrant and dynamic metropolitan areas. The Department of World
Languages and Literatures is a dynamic department housing ten languages and
fourteen different degree programs, and it serves all of SMUs 6000
undergraduates through the university-wide language requirement.
