Description:

Well-established scholars in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics are invited to
apply for a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
The successful candidate will serve as Department Head for a period of five
years following appointment (with the possibility of renewal). Appointment
will be in the Department of Linguistics (9 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7N
5A5)

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics,
or a relevant area. She or he will be productively engaged in ongoing research
focusing on Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, and will have a record of
research success, experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students in
Linguistics or Applied Linguistics, and a potential to supervise graduate
students.

Applicants should have relevant administrative experience or potential for
such service commensurate with the duties of Department Head, and should be
able to represent the interests of the department in the broader context of
the College of Arts and Science. We seek applicants who excel as
teacher-scholars with demonstrable teaching accomplishments, a
well-established program of research, and evidence of research funding.

In the context of a major reinvestment into the Department of Linguistics by
the College of Arts and Science, the successful candidate will have the
opportunity to help develop a new vision and new initiatives for the
department, to guide and mentor newer faculty, to build on continuing growth,
and to enhance student enrollments and learning experiences.

Appointment is expected to be at the Associate Professor or Full Professor
rank. The current salary bands are: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109;
Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; Full Professor: $130,925 to
$152,877. In addition, Department Heads in the College of Arts and Science
receive a stipend and research grant support. 

This position also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes a
dental, health and extended vision care plan; pension plan, life insurance
(compulsory and voluntary), academic long term disability, sick leave, travel
insurance, death benefits, an employee assistance program, a professional
expense allowance, and a flexible health and wellness spending program.

administrative experience, statement of research interests, teaching dossier
that includes a statement of teaching interests and philosophy and teaching
evaluations, and samples of published works. Applicants will also arrange for

Review of applications will begin February 22, 2019; however, applications
will be accepted and evaluated until the position is filled. The anticipated
start date is July 1, 2019.
