Description:

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of the foremost research-led
Universities in Germany. As a reform-oriented campus university, the RUB

place. This dynamic community atmosphere between the faculties offers
researches and students alike exceptional chances for interdisciplinary
collaboration. 

The chair for German linguistics, history of German/ historical linguistics
(Prof. Dr. Eric Fuß), invites applications for the position of a Post-Doc
Research Associate (“Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter”; salary: TV-L E13, 100%)
for a period of 3 years. 

The chair’s research focus lies in language variation and change, and in the
grammar of German and its historical varieties.  

A successful candidate should hold an above average PhD degree in German
linguistics, historical linguistics, or theoretical linguistics and should
have a research focus in grammar (especially syntax and morphology) and
historical linguistics. Moreover, in-depth knowledge of modern theories of
grammar and corpus/statistical methods is expected. 

The position is associated with teaching responsibilities (4 hours per week)
at both undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA) levels in the areas of German
linguistics/the history of German/historical linguistics. The language of
instruction is German.

A high level of commitment is expected in teaching, undergraduate
examinations, and participation in academic self-administration. The position
aims to support those pursuing further academic qualification (Habilitation),
which will be compatible with the responsibilities listed above.
