Description:

The successful candidate will teach courses in child development, child
language development, and cognitive development, mostly offered in completely
online settings. In addition, the successful candidate may be required to
teach other child development courses, as well as foundational courses in
human development, and any other courses that may be required by the
Department. In collaboration with other faculty members, s/he will work to
strengthen the Department's Childhood Development and Early Childhood
Development curriculum by developing and teaching new courses.  

All faculty are expected to make appropriate use of up-to-date instructional
technology, including online instruction and digitally recorded instructional
materials.  

Additionally, the candidate will serve in the role of online innovation
liaison for the department.  This individual will keep abreast of new
technologies that can be implemented into online learning. Creating a more
immersive and engaged experience for our students will aid in course
comprehension and retention. The liaison will bring to the department high
impact practices that can be integrated within the Blackboard platform. Once a
term, she/he will provide a workshop to the department demonstrating and
sharing with faculty the latest advances in online technology.  Please note
that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include
courses at the Hayward, Concord, and Online campuses.  

In addition to teaching, all faculty are required to do student advising,
assist the department with administrative and committee work, and assume
campus-wide committee responsibilities. In order to fulfill these duties, the
successful candidate will be expected to physically come to campus at least
twice a week.
