Description:

The University of Macau (UM) is the flagship public university in Macao, which
gives it a unique advantage in pursuing the goal of becoming a world-class
university with regional characteristics. English is the working language. In
recent years, UM has made significant progress and has gained increasing
international recognition for its teaching, research, and community service. 

The English Language Centre (ELC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is
seeking qualified individuals for anticipated positions as “Teaching Fellow.”
The purpose of the teaching fellow program is to provide recent Master's
degree graduates in TESL/TEFL (or closely related fields such as Second
Language Acquisition or Applied Linguistics) with: full-time teaching
experience; the opportunity to work with faculty and the ELC on special
projects in an area of professional interest or expertise (e.g. IT, writing,
materials design) and engagement in language and cultural exchange.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a recent Master’s degree (obtained in 2015 or later) in
one of the fields noted above from an accredited program and some experience
and/or qualifications in teaching English to tertiary multilingual students.
Applicants should have their degree in hand upon application. 

The successful candidates also need to possess excellent organizational
abilities, communication skills, and leadership qualities. Ability to speak
Chinese (Putonghua or Cantonese) may be an advantage, but more important are
abilities to work well with a multicultural staff and desire to learn and
explore Macao culture. The candidate should also be willing to provide
out-of-class activities to students in English as required.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty on 1 August 2019.

Position and Remuneration:
The position offered and taxable salary level shall be determined according to
the appointee's academic qualifications, current position, and professional
experience.

Teaching Fellow: MOP20,480 – 28,670 (USD1 approx. =MOP8)
Teaching duty is required.

10-month appointment with possibility of a second 10-month contract upon
mutual agreement.
