Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Chicago invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Psycholinguistics. The successful
candidate will be a strong junior scholar and educator and will play a key
role in fostering the Department's experimental program, complementing and
enhancing our current strengths in syntax, semantics, phonology, field work,
language contact and language documentation. Fluency in a wide range of
experimental methods, as well as statistical and cognitive modeling techniques
are desirable. 

A goal of the search is to increase the diversity of the Department of
Linguistics and we therefore welcome applicants who come from groups that are
historically underrepresented in the discipline, such as black/African
American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian or Alaskan Native. Successful
candidates will be appointed either as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, or
as a Provost's Postdoctoral Scholar, which is a tenure-track faculty position,
at the rank of Instructor for an initial two-year period. A successful
candidate appointed as a Provost's Postdoctoral Scholar during the term of
appointment will teach one class per year, receive research support, and
participate in programming designed to help support them in their progress
toward promotion. Following successful review, Postdoctoral Scholars will be
promoted to Assistant Professor at the end of their initial term. 

Candidates are required to have completed all requirements for receiving the
PhD by the position's start date.
