Meeting Description:

TABU Dag is an annual international linguistics conference organised at the
University of Groningen in the Netherlands, which celebrates its 40th edition
in June 2019. As TABU Dag is a broad conference with keynote speakers from
various research fields, including psycholinguistics, second language
acquisition, computational linguistics, and cognitive sciences, we welcome
abstracts from all subfields of linguistics. Graduate students and
postdoctoral researchers are particularly encouraged to present their work. 

We accept abstracts for both 30-minute presentations and poster sessions.
Abstract submission will be open from January 15 to February 24, 2019. More

Call for Papers:

The international linguistics conference TABU Dag welcomes submissions for
individual oral presentations and poster pitches for its 40th celebratory
edition, held at the University of Groningen on June 20 and 21, 2019. We
invite abstracts (in English) in any field of linguistics, including but not
limited to: syntax and semantics, phonetics and phonology, sociolinguistics,
psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics, developmental linguistics, language
acquisition, speech production, discourse and text analysis, and computational
linguistics. Master students as well as doctoral and postdoctoral researchers
are particularly encouraged to present their work at TABU Dag. 

The keynote speakers for the 40th edition of TABU Dag are:

- Kirsten Abbot-Smith – Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of
Kent  
- Neil Cohn – Assistant Professor of Communication and Cognition at Tilburg
University 
- Jan Hulstijn – Professor Emeritus of Second Language Acquisition at
University of Amsterdam
- Courtenay Norbury – Professor of Developmental Disorders of Language and
Communication at University College London
- Martin Pickering – Professor of the Psychology of Language and Communication
at the University of Edinburgh 
- Lucia Specia – Professor of Natural Language Processing at Imperial College
London and Professor of Language Engineering at the University of Sheffield

For TABU Dag 2019 we accept abstracts for oral presentations and posters with
pitch presentations. The individual oral presentation sessions include a talk
of maximum 20 minutes, followed by a 10 minute discussion. Poster sessions
will be held on both days of TABU Dag 2019, with every poster accompanied by a
1-minute pitch presentation. For more information regarding poster formatting

The abstract submission is open from January 14 until February 24, 2019.
Submissions should include a title, full names of the main author and all
co-authors, author affiliations, keywords, and a brief abstract not exceeding
200 words (excluding references). You will also be asked to indicate whether
the submission is intended for an oral presentation or a poster, or whether
you have no preference. In that case, the committee will decide whether the
topic of your abstract is more suited for a poster or an oral presentation.

- Notifications of acceptance: no later than March 24, 2019
