Job Announcement – Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer Position in Linguistics

The Department of Cognitive Science in the School of Humanities, Arts, and
Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applicants for a
full-time Lecturer in Linguistics/Cognitive Science beginning Fall 2019.

We seek candidates who will support the Department’s mission of advancing
teaching and research in computational cognitive modeling, artificial
intelligence, human and machine reasoning, computational linguistics,
perception and action, theoretical neuroscience, cognitive robotics, cognitive
engineering, and advanced synthetic characters. The ideal candidate will have
experience in psychology, philosophy, artificial intelligence, neuroscience,
and/or cognitive systems, as well as the ability to teach students pursuing
diverse disciplines. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory
courses in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. Applicants must hold a terminal
degree or foreign degree equivalent at the time of the appointment and have
prior independent teaching experience at the college level.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is the nation’s first
technological university. With approximately 5,000 undergraduate and 2,500
graduate students from around the world, the university offers more than 145
programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Rensselaer is
