Description:

The Faculty of Philology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, German Department, is
inviting applications for the position of a Professor of Digital Forensic
Linguistics (Tenure Track W1/W2) starting 1 October 2019.

The future tenure-track professor will teach and conduct research in the field
of forensic linguistics with a focus on authorship analysis. The
responsibilities include the linguistic analysis of digital communication in
social networks as well as the development of automatic programs for
authorship attribution. The successful candidate should have an excellent
doctoral degree in linguistics and ideally have expertise in computer science
(machine learning). The teaching (4 hours a week, increased to 5 hours upon
successful evaluation after three years) will be within the M.A. program
Germanistik (German philology). A willingness to develop interdisciplinary
teaching units is desirable. 

We expect:
- An aptitude for and a deep commitment to academic teaching;
- Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work;
- Willingness and ability to raise external research funding;
- Readiness to participate in academic administration.

The position is part of the German federal-state programme for promoting young
academics. Upon successful evaluation, the tenure-track position will become a
