Meeting Description:

The Faculty of Foreign Languages (Alfa BK University in Belgrade) is glad to
announce its Eighth International Conference on Language and Literary Studies,
which will be held on 24–25 May, 2019.
For the eighth issue of our annual conference, we hope to gather scholars,
teachers and professionals whose scientific research focuses on the study of
Language, Literature, Play and Games.

Children's play and board games, sport and dance, political and various other
games are an integral part of the collective experience of humankind. Although
the first significant theories and classifications of play and games appeared
in the twentieth century (e.g. Caillois's four play forms – agon, alea,
mimicry and ilinx), many great thinkers, from Heraclitus and Plato to Kant,
Gadamer and Wittgenstein, have expressed their opinions about this phenomenon.
Language, Literature, Play and Games conference looks into the significance of
the concepts of play and games and their influence on various aspects of human
culture and civilization. The aim of our conference is to present possible
empirical and theoretical views on play and games from the perspective of
philology, pedagogy, philosophy, sociology and psychology, as well as from the
point of view of other humanities and arts. Within the scope of this topic and
with your presence and collaboration, we shall attempt to address and analyze
issues such as:

- Philosophical, sociological and psychological aspects of play and games
- Wordplay in discourse
- The function of games and playing in teaching language and literature
- Play and games as literary motifs
- Play as a principle of text structure
- Play and dance in traditional and modern art and performance
- The importance of play and games in the media, social networks and other
means of communication
- Games and playing in sport and entertainment industry
- Play and games in politics and economy
