Description:

The Department of British and North American Studies of the University of
Greifswald, Germany invites applications for the full-time position of
Lecturer in English Linguistics  („wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in“, 40
hours per week) 

The above position starts on April 1, 2019 and will terminate on March 31,
2021. The payment will be according to TV-L Wissenschaft, salary scale E13. 

The position will be part of the newly formed working group in English
linguistics which has a focus on language as social practice as well as on the
use of English in global and contexts. Working at our department, the position
holder will have the opportunity to embark on a closely supervised
qualification project and to get actively involved in teaching and research. 

Responsibilities: 
- The expected teaching load is 8 hours per week in the field of English
Linguistics, particularly structural linguistics at undergraduate level
(Introduction to Phonetics/Phonology, English Grammar, Introduction to English
Linguistics). Occasional teaching in the field of English Language Practice
may also be required.
- Additionally, the position holder will be required to participate in
examinations and organizational tasks and should be willing to take part in
linguistic research projects. 
- The position will be conducive to the realization of a predoc/postdoc
project or for the acquisition of additional scientific qualifications. 

Requirements: 
Applicants should hold an excellent degree in linguistics and/or English and
American Studies. They should have a well-developed language awareness and be
acquainted with different language cultures in the English-speaking world.
Moreover, they should be open for implementing research-based formats of
teaching and for further enhancing their academic profile. A well-documented
teaching experience in academia is expected.

The University would like to increase the proportion of women in areas in
which they are underrepresented. Thus, applications from women are

qualifications and as long as there are no clear reasons which make a fellow
applicant more suitable.
