Description:

A postdoctoral research assistant position is available at Saarland
University, Dept. of Language Science and Technology, in the DFG-funded
Collaborative Research Center “Information Density and Linguistic Encoding”
(SFB1102). SFB1102 is a large and varied Research Center that includes 16
research projects in the areas of computational linguistics,
psycholinguistics, and theoretical linguistics. The aim of this postdoctoral
research assistantship is to help write a grant proposal for the DFG (Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft); and to aid in research using cross-linguistic
corpora. The objective is to explore patterns of information structure,
especially those relating to uniformity of information density, across
registers and languages. 

This position will require an individual with expertise in corpus linguistics
and the analysis of large linguistic datasets. You will have a PhD in corpus
linguistics, computational linguistics, linguistic typology, anthropological
linguistics, or a similar field. It is essential that you have experience
applying for external funding, and highly desirable that you have experience
applying for funding with DFG. (Note that while the position requires a
doctoral degree, applications by people who have not yet finished their degree
by the time of application, but will have submitted their thesis by the
starting date or shortly thereafter, are encouraged.)

The post is a full-time fixed term position of 2 years. Salary in accordance
with the German TV-L salary scale (collective agreement on remuneration of
public sector employees in the German Länder), pay grade: E13, employment 100
% of standard working time. Commencing date 01 October 2019.
