Meeting Description:

The Faculty of Translation and Interpretation (FTI-EII) of the University of
Mons (UMONS) organizes its first symposium on “The Interdisciplinary Study of
Spanish Varieties” which will be held on May 06, 07 and 08, 2020.

This first meeting aims at gathering researchers and teachers who study the
varieties of Spanish in relation to Translation-Interpretation, the Teaching
of Spanish as a foreign language and Linguistics. For that purpose, the
symposium will address the study of Spanish varieties from multidisciplinary
approaches. We therefore welcome contributions exploring the varieties from
different perspectives such as pragmatism, morphology, phonetics, syntax,
literature, or questions related to the study of a geographic or social
variety, among other examples.


Call for Papers:

The symposium will address the study of Spanish varieties from
multidisciplinary approaches. We therefore welcome contributions exploring the
varieties from different perspectives such as pragmatism, morphology,
phonetics, syntax, literature, or questions related to the study of a
geographic or social variety, among other examples.

Contributions should preferably be held in French and/or Spanish, but English
is accepted as well. Each speaker will have 30 minutes to present his/her
work. Papers have to be submitted in WORD and/or PDF to
Manon.Gillet at umons.ac.be and Gonzalo.Franciscosanchez at umons.ac.be and must
include a title and a 500-word abstract, in addition to a short presentation
of the speaker (description of studies and investigations).

Symposium Fees:

For contributors: 90,00€ 
Attendance only (with certificate): 50,00€
