Start date:  as soon as possible. 

The Jesus Professorship of Celtic is an historic and prestigious Chair and
plays a key role in Celtic Studies not only at Oxford but in the United
Kingdom, with a distinguished pedigree of past holders. 

You will work with colleagues in all three Faculties of English Language and
Literature, History, and Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics and draw upon
the outstanding resources of the Bodleian and Jesus College libraries. 

You will have to be a scholar of international stature with expertise wholly
or largely in the period prior to 1603 and research leadership in the realm of
Celtic studies. You will take a lead in encouraging and nurturing a research
culture. You will be able to encourage and foster Oxford’s reputation
throughout this area, through collaboration and building links in the UK and
overseas.  You will expected to adopt any methodological approach in your own
research as well as establish a thriving research community to attract
external funding for projects. 

The closing dates for applications is 12 noon on Monday 15th July 2019.
