Meeting Description:

This is 8th in the series of conferences which brings together those working
on Bantu languages. Previous conferences have been held at SOAS University of
London, Gothenburg, Tervuren, Paris, Berlin, Helsinki and Cape Town.


Call for Papers:

The 8th International Conference on Bantu Linguistics will be hosted by the
Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex, UK. It will
take place from 18-20 June 2020. Thematic workshops are scheduled for Saturday
20 June 2020. 

We are pleased to announce that the invited speakers are:

Prof Laura J. Downing, University of Gothenburg
Dr Brent Henderson, University of Florida
Dr Saudah Namyalo, Makerere University 

Important Dates:

Deadline for workshop proposals: 19 July 2019
Notification of acceptance for workshops: 31 July 2019

Deadline for abstracts: 7 September 2019
Notification of acceptance for abstracts: 14 October 2019

Call for Workshop Proposals:

Thematically organised workshops addressing any aspect of the analysis,
description or comparison of Bantu languages are welcome.
 
Proposals for workshops should be a maximum of two A4 pages, including
examples and references. Please send workshop proposals as a PDF or Word
document to bantu8 at essex.ac.uk and put ‘Bantu 8 workshop proposal’ in the
subject line.

Workshop proposals should contain a description of the topic and research
questions. You may include an indicative list of workshop participants and
titles if you already have this. However, this is not strictly necessary. The
workshops should be organised around 30 minute slots.

Call for Papers
Abstract submission guidelines for the main session and the workshops will be
provided in the first official call for papers in August 2019.
