Description:

The University of Konstanz has been successful in the German Excellence

As a result of the initiative "Artificial Intelligence Baden-Württemberg
(KI-BW)" sponsored by the Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts, the
University of Konstanz is able to strengthen its profile in the Cognitive
Sciences by means of a Juniorprofessorship (W1) in Artificial Intelligence
non-tenure track. The Juniorprofessorship is to be filled as soon as possible
(within 2019) for a fixed term of 6 years.

The ideal candidate will work within Artificial Intelligence and will
contribute to and complement existing cognitive science strengths at the
University of Konstanz.

Depending on the profile of the applicant, the Juniorprofessorship will be

main areas of research should encompass one or more of the following:
artificial/intelligent agents, machine learning, natural language processing.
We are looking for candidates with an interest in cognitive science and whose
research either pertains to computational linguistic aspects of Artificial
Intelligence, or is concerned with a philosophical reflection of the issues
surrounding Artificial Intelligence, including questions of ethics.

Cooperation with existing and planned research proposals at the departments is
expected.

The recruitment requirements of the State University Act of the State of
Baden-Württemberg apply. The candidate should have a completed doctorate and
an excellent track record that includes internationally visible publications
and teaching experience.

Teaching will be in the study programs of the Departments of Linguistics and
Philosophy and will initially encompass 2 courses per semester, increasing to
3 courses in the latter half of the Juniorprofessorship. Teaching and
examining duties will be within the BA, MA and doctoral programmes of
linguistics and philosophy.

The University of Konstanz is committed to ensuring an environment that
promotes equal opportunities and promotes diversity as well as a good balance
between university and family life.

As an equal opportunity employer, we strive to increase the number of women
working in research and teaching. We also support working couples through our
dual career programme https://www.uni-konstanz.de
