Full Title: Stellenbosch Papers in Linguistics Plus

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 31-May-2019

Call for Papers:

The Southern African Microlinguistics Workshop (SAMWOP) series
(https://sites.google.com/site/samwopmain/) has now reached its eighth year,
with SAMWOP-8 due to take place this year at the University of KwaZulu-Natal
(Durban), in all likelihood in very late November. The series is focused on
work on Southern African microlinguistics, whether by local linguists or not,
the term 'microlinguistics' referring broadly to any research focused on the
internal structure of language (as opposed to, for example, its broader
sociological or pedagogical aspects).

Over the years, a number of special issues of SPIL-Plus
(http://spilplus.journals.ac.za/pub) have been linked to SAMWOP workshops.
SAMWOP-6 (Stellenbosch) and SAMWOP-7 (Venda) have, however, not yet had such
an issue dedicated to them. This e-mail is, thus, a call-for-contributions for
a special issue of SPIL-Plus linked specifically to SAMWOP 6 & 7. While there
is a particular preference for articles based on papers presented at either of
the two workshops, other articles from other linguists dealing with any aspect
of Southern African microlinguistics will also be given serious consideration.

The guest-editors for this special issue are Prof Ian Bekker (NWU,
Potchefstroom, South Africa), Dr Crous Hlungwane (Venda) and Prof Seunghun Lee
(International Christian University). We would like to have the special issue
out before the end of the year or early 2020. First drafts therefore need to
be in by the end of May. These can be sent to ian.bekker at nwu.ac.za.
