Meeting Description:

The purpose of this conference is to build capacity in language and linguistic
research among linguists, graduate students, language activists, language
educators and persons interested in the importance of language, through
training in language and linguistic database skills and raising awareness of
the importance and effectiveness of using language and linguistic databases in
research, not only in the creation of language and linguistic data but also as
a basis for extensive language descriptions and characterization. The
conference provides an opportunity to participants to develop and enhance
their skills in language and Linguistic research. In addition, the conference
is an opportunity for utilization of existing databases in order to enhance
their scope. This conference will hopefully spur the construction of new
databases by established researchers in the region not only to help study
local languages but also to build networks that will harness the diversity
among participants towards building a stronger research family.
