Meeting Description:

The 6th Postgraduate Academic Researchers in Linguistics at York (PARLAY)
Conference will take place at the University of York on Friday 6 September
2019. PARLAY is a one-day conference that aims at providing postgraduates from
all research areas in linguistics with an opportunity to present and discuss
their research in an interdisciplinary, friendly, and intellectually
stimulating setting at the University of York.


Call for Papers:

We invite postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students and early career researchers
to submit abstracts for both oral and poster presentations on any topic in
language and linguistics and all language-related areas in education,
sociology, and psychology. These may include, but are not restricted to:

Applied linguistics, cognitive linguistics, computational linguistics,
conversation analysis, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, forensic
linguistics, historical linguistics, language acquisition, language learning &
teaching, language planning & policy, language revitalisation, morphology,
neurolinguistics, phonetics, phonology, pragmatics, psycholinguistics,
semantics, sociolinguistics, and syntax.

Plenary Speakers:

We are honoured to have Dr Ghada Khattab (University of Newcastle) and Dr Adam
Schembri (University of Birmingham) as plenary speakers for PARLAY 2019.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words (excluding references) and should be
fully anonymised. Authors may submit a maximum of two abstracts, provided they
are the sole or lead author of at most one abstract. A template with
formatting information is available for download on our website
(http://parlayconference.altervista.org/).

Please submit your abstract as a Word/PDF document (.doc, .docx or .pdf) to
EasyAbs (http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/PARLAY2019). During submission,
please also indicate whether you would like to be considered for an oral
presentation or a poster. If you indicate that you wish to be considered for
both, we will assume that the preference is for an oral presentation.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to provide an editable version
with all author information de-anonymised.

Key Dates:

Submission opens: Thursday 25 April 2019
Submission closes: Sunday 16 June 2019, 17:00 BST
Notification of acceptance: early July 2019
Early bird registration: 1–28 August 2019

Proceedings:

A set of conference proceedings for PARLAY 2019 will be published in a special
issue of York Papers in Linguistics (YPL). Presenters are highly encouraged to
submit brief articles after the conference. More details will be available
later on the YPL website: http://www.york.ac.uk/language/ypl/.
