Description:

Lecturer / Assistant Professor in English Linguistics
Full-time position (40 hours per week) for a period of three-years and an
expected tenure track.

Responsibilities for the position include: 
- Teaching introductory as well as specialised courses in English (as per
candidate’s specialisation) at the undergraduate as well as graduate level
(ca. 4-5 courses of 90 min per week) per term/semester
- Supervising students’ theses
- Participation in all levels of exams
- Contributing to the curriculum development as appropriate
- Establishing and maintaining independent research
- Development of, and participation in, grant projects
- Participation in the academic life of the department

Qualifications: 
- PhD in English/linguistics
habilitation (the title of docent), or preparedness to commence the 
habilitation process  within one to two years (Note that the habilitation
process requires 20 publications, one monograph/substantial publication
besides the dissertation, 3 years of teaching)
- Teaching experience (in English)
- Good publication record
- Experience in project investigation and grant submissions is an advantage
- Excellent command of written and spoken English

- Basic salary of up to 30,000 CZK plus bonuses

The probationary period is one semester.

- A sample of a written work that is relevant to this position, not more than
10,000 words; it may be a published or unpublished sample and may be an
extract from a longer piece
- Teaching evaluation (if available)
- Syllabus proposal for an MA level linguistics course (one term, 12x
90-minute lecture/seminar);

The application process will be in two rounds. The committee appointed by the
dean of the Faculty of Arts decides in the first round on the basis of the
submitted material. The candidates invited for the second round may be asked
to deliver a public lecture in the Department of English Language and ELT
Methodology and to be available for an interview with the committee.
