Description:

The candidate will be employed as a temporary civil servant for a time period
of three years. An extension of three years is possible in the case of a
positive evaluation. After this period and a final evaluation, appointment to
a tenured professorship at W2 level is intended in accordance with the
relevant statutory provisions.

Requirements:
- Outstanding doctoral degree in Linguistics (with English being at least one
of the languages researched); a doctoral or Master's degree in English
Studies;
- Evidence of a strong research profile which includes the field of language
acquisition or language processing, preferably with a focus on
phonetic/phonological or lexical aspects;
-Demonstrated ability to teach English linguistics.

Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 30 of the Lower Saxony
Higher Education Act (NHG).

We seek a candidate who is (prospectively) able to teach all aspects of
English linguistics (ideally covering several regional varieties). She or he
conducts research in the field of English linguistics, primarily in first or
second language acquisition and language processing, or who will (further)
develop her or his research interests in this area, thereby strengthening
hearing research with a linguistic perspective. In addition, the candidate's
research specialization should be compatible with the linguistic field of
'language contact, language acquisition and language processing,' which is the
current research focus in the School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies.

The candidate's responsibilities will include teaching in all Bachelor's and
Master's degree programmes of the Institute, developing and implementing
linguistics research projects, involvement in academic administrative tasks,
and participation in research carried out within the Cluster of Excellence
'Hearing4all'.

As the Universities of Bremen and Oldenburg have a cooperation agreement, the
applicant will be expected to contribute actively towards this cooperation.

To increase the proportion of women in science, equally qualified female
candidates will be given preference. Applicants with disabilities will be
preferentially considered in case of equal qualification. The position is
suitable for part-time employment.
