The Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc cordially
invites you to submit individual paper and thematic panel proposals for its
upcoming 13th Annual Conference on Asian Studies (ACAS) to be held on November
22-23, 2019 in Olomouc, Czech Republic. 
 
The general theme of the conference this year is Borders, Bridges,
Intersections. We welcome papers that concern any language and region in Asia
and approach the conference theme from a variety of perspectives, including
linguistics. We would also like to especially encourage contributions in the
field of language teaching and learning. 
 
In addition, there will be a Student Poster Session which will allow
undergraduate (BA) as well as graduate (MA and PhD) students to present the
results of their research.

Call for Papers:

The Department of Asian Studies at Palacký University Olomouc is currently
accepting paper and panel proposals for its 13th Annual Conference on Asian
Studies (ACAS) to be held on November 22-23, 2019 in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The general theme this year is Borders, Bridges, Intersections.

We welcome papers that concern any region in Asia and approach the conference
theme from a variety of perspectives, including linguistics, literature, arts,
cultural studies, media studies, sociology, anthropology, history, philosophy,
political science, international relations, economics, cultural geography, and
other fields. This year, we would also like to especially encourage
contributions in the field of language teaching and learning.

We invite researchers, teachers, and postgraduate students to submit their
proposals for individual presentations as well as organized panels dealing
with a particular theme. In addition, there will also be a Student Poster
Session which will allow undergraduate (BA) as well as graduate (MA and PhD)
students to present the results of their research.

The language of the conference is English. The individual presentations should
not exceed 20 minutes. Additional 10 minutes are planned for questions and
discussion. The panels may include three or four topically related
presentations and take up to 90 minutes, including the discussion. The
proposals should be submitted in the form of abstracts (max. 300 words,
including references, for an individual paper, and up to 1,000 words,
including references, for a panel) as a PDF or DOC(X) file to acas at upol.cz by
June 30, 2019. 

The abstracts must be anonymized. Please indicate your full name, title, and
affiliation in the body of your e-mail. Decisions on the abstracts will be
sent by August 31, 2019.

The conference fee is 50 EUR / 1250 CZK. All presenters must register by
September 30, 2019. Participation in the Student Poster Session is free of
charge and the selected posters will be printed by the organizer.
