Subject: Sixteenth Annual Conference of the European Society for Textual Scholarship

Full Title: Sixteenth Annual Conference of the European Society for Textual Scholarship
Short Title: ESTS 2019

Date: 28-Nov-2019 - 29-Nov-2019
Location: Málaga, Spain
Contact Person: Laura Esteban-Segura
Meeting Email: ests2019 at uma.es
Web Site: https://sites.google.com/view/ests-2019

Linguistic Field(s): Ling & Literature; Writing Systems

Call Deadline: 31-May-2019

Meeting Description:

The conference will assess, to a certain extent, the ideal of edition in the
twenty-first century with the following conference theme: “Textual Scholarship
in the 21st Century”. From textual criticism, where attention is paid to
reconstructed versions of texts, to more recent philological theory, with a
focus on individual textual witnesses, the field has travelled a long path of
both theoretical and practical approaches to editing. The advent of new
technologies has undoubtedly contributed to new attitudes and methods in the
field. However, there is still a long way to go and many questions remain open
to debate in textual scholarship.

Call for Papers:

Scholars interested in offering 20-minute papers (followed by a 10-minute
discussion) must send a title and abstract (250-300 words, excluding
references) in electronic format (preferably Microsoft Word) by May 31, 2019
to the following address: ests2019 at uma.es.

Proposals for three-paper sessions should include a title, a chair and an
introduction for the session (ca. 100 words), along with titles and abstracts
for each paper. Abstracts should include the name of the author(s),
affiliation, as well as telephone number, email address and needed technical
support. Acceptance of proposals will be confirmed by June 2019.
