Call for Papers:

The organising committee of the 3rd International UCM Predoctoral Conference
on English Linguistics (III UPCEL 2020) are pleased to invite master and
predoctoral students in English Linguistics programmes to participate in our
third edition.The event will be held on January 29, 30 and 31, 2020 at the
Faculty of Philology, Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and will be
organised by the PhD Programme in English Linguistics of UCM (Excellence
Distinction by the Spanish Ministry of Education). 

This conference welcomes all proposals —especially those with a connection to
our conference theme, namely, “ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND DIVERSITY”— with a
theoretical, methodological motivation, especially those linked with research
that is being carried out from a plethora of linguistic disciplines such as:

- Bilingualism/CLIL or Language teaching
- English as a Foreign Language, Language policies, or Global languages
- Critical Discourse Analysis
- Cognitive Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, or Neurolinguistics
- Functional Linguistics
- Language and literature
- Sociolinguistics
- Linguistic Anthropology
- Pragmatics or Semantics
- Applied Linguistics
- Historical Linguistics
- Corpus and Computational Linguistics
- Translation and Contrastive Linguistics
- Lexicography/Phraseology

Abstract Submission:
 
We invite researchers to submit proposals based on their own work in one of
the following formats: 
- Paper presentations: 20-minute slots, followed by ten minutes for
discussion.
- Posters: posters will be at display in key areas at the conference venue. 

Please note that English is the language we will be using all throughout the
conference. 
All abstracts must be submitted online before July 15, 2019 via EasyChair:
https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=upcel2020
Those who do not have an EasyChair account will need to create one.
The word limit for the submitted abstracts is 500 words, including references
and keywords.
All submitted abstracts will be peer-reviewed.

Proposals must include: 

- Title
- Kind of contribution: presentation or poster 
- Full name, postal address, telephone and e-mail of the author/authors
- Work or Study Centre
- Abstract (maximum 500 words) where the topic, objectives, conclusions, and 
references must be explained as clearly and specifically as possible
- Keywords (three to five)
- Technical media required for the presentation
- Brief CV of the author/authors (maximum 10 lines)

Key Dates:

- Abstract submission deadline: July 15, 2019
- Notification of acceptance: September 15, 2019
- Early bird registration: From notification of acceptance to October 18, 2019
- Late registration: October 18 - November 30, 2019
- Conference dates: January 29, 30, 31, 2019 

Registration Fees:

The fee includes registration, conference pack, and coffee breaks. 
- Early-bird registration fee – 50€ 
- Late registration fee – 75€
- Attendees - 15€
