JEP 2020 Conference | TALN 2020 | RÉCITAL 2020

LORIA, ATILF and INIST are french laboratories and institutes located in Nancy
and working in the fields of speech and automatic processing of written,
spoken and signed languages. With the scientific support of the AFCP
(Association Francophone pour la Communication Parlée) and ATALA (Association
pour le Traitement Automatique des Langues), they are organizing the sixth
joint edition of the JEP-TALN-RÉCITAL conference. It will take place: from 8
to 12 June 2020 on the Lettres et Sciences Humaines campus of the University
of Lorraine.

This edition will therefore include:

- the 33rd Days on Speech Studies (Journées d'Etudes sur la Parole - JEP),
- the 27th Conference on Natural Language Processing (Traitement Automatique
des Langues Naturelles - TALN),
- the 22nd Meeting of Student Researchers in Computer Science for Automatic
Language Processing (Rencontre des Étudiants Chercheurs en Informatique pour
le Traitement Automatique des Langues - RÉCITAL).


Call for Papers:

Important dates:

Long paper submission due (maximum 12 pages, without references) : March 20,
2020 
Notification of acceptance :  April 28, 2020
Camera-ready due : May 15, 2020
Conference : June 8-12, 2020

Submissions:

Relevant topics for the conference include, but are not limited to, the
following areas:
Phonetics, phonology, morphology, POS tagging
Syntax, grammars, syntactic analysis, chunking
Semantics, pragmatics, discourse
Lexical semantics and distributional semantics
Linguistics and psycholinguistics aspects of NLP
NLP resources
Evaluation methods for NLP
Applications of NLP (information extraction and retrieval, Q&A systems,
generation and summary, dialog, opinion mining)
NLP and multi-modal interface (speech, vision, etc..)
NLP and multilingualism
NLP for web and social networks
NLP for poorly endowed languages
NLP and signed language
NLP and ethics
NLP and digital humanities
NLP and corpus linguistics

Types of contributions:

The format of the papers for RÉCITAL is free but must not exceed 12 pages +
maximum 2 pages for references.

Authors are invited to publish 2 types of papers : 
Articles that present original and unpublished work
Position papers presenting a point of view on the state of research in NLP

The official language for the conference is French. Submissions in English are
accepted if a co-author is not French-speaking. 
Papers should present new and unpublished work, thus, translations of already
published papers are not accepted.

Selection criteria:

Authors should be students or young researchers who have supported their
thesis since less than one year. 
Publications with senior researchers (including thesis supervisors) should be
submitted to the conference TALN 
and not RÉCITAL. Submitting to both TALN and RÉCITAL is not allowed.

Authors are invited to submit new and unpublished work, that have not been
published before. The submissions 
will be evaluated by at least two specialists of the field. In particular, the
following will be considered:

- Correction of the scientific and technical content,
- Situation of the work in the context of international research,
- Organization and clarity of the presentation,
- Consistency with the conference themes.

According to the program committee decision, work will be presented either
orally or in poster session. 
All articles selected, regardless of their format, will be published in the
conference proceedings.

The reviewing will be double-blind, which means that contributions must not
include the names or affiliations of the authors. 
In addition, self-references and project names that reveal the identity of
authors, such as ''We have already demonstrated (Martin, 1991)'', 
should be avoided. Authors should therefore give preference to quotations such
as ''Martin has previously demonstrated (Martin, 1991)''. 
Acknowledgements will be omitted in the submission, and may be added in the
final version of the article in case of acceptance.

Award:

The program committee will select an article for the RÉCITAL Award. This prize
will be solemnly awarded at the end of the conference.
