Meeting Description:

The aim of the MEMENTO Boot Camp is to bring together researchers from
experimental psycholinguistics and translation research, and thus generate new
ideas for investigating how bilinguals in general, and translators in
particular, represent and process language.

Call for Papers:

We invite you to apply for the third MEMENTO Boot Camp. Its aim is to bring
together researchers from experimental psycholinguistics and translation
research, and thus generate new ideas for investigating how bilinguals in
general, and translators in particular, represent and process language.

This boot camp takes place in the context of the MEMENTO Project (Modeling
Parameters of Cognitive Effort in Translation Production), a collaboration
between researchers in Germany, China, Brazil, USA, and Denmark. The two
previous boot camps focused on finding new ways of studying the translation
process by building on the existing methods and findings emerging from a large
multilingual corpus of eye tracking and keylogging translation data. The third
boot camp will have a different focus and format, by integrating priming
paradigms in studies investigating translation in order to open up new future
avenues for research.

The Boot Camp will take place over at least two weekends virtually
(8.2.-9.2.2020 and 29.2.2020) and one week in person at the TRA&CO Center in
Germersheim (4.7.-11.7.2020). Six keynote speakers will give impulse talks
during the week in Germersheim: Michael Carl, Harald Clahsen, Silvia
Hansen-Schirra, Rob Hartsuiker, Gunnar Jacob, and Lieve Macken.

Please apply with a detailed research proposal, brief CV, and cover letter by
January 7, 2020. The research proposal should not exceed two pages (excluding
references). Grants for travel and accommodation are available.
