Meeting Description:

The research group “Intercultural Pragmatic Studies (English-Spanish):
Pragmatic and Discourse Issues” is pleased to announce the upcoming Ninth
International Symposium on Intercultural, Cognitive and Social Pragmatics
(EPICS IX, after the Spanish acronym for “Encuentros de Pragmática
Intercultural, Cognitiva y Social”). EPICS IX will be held on 6th-8th May
2020, at the Faculty of Humanities of Pablo de Olavide University, Seville
(Spain).

Call for Papers:

Please find attached a CFPs for a Panel on Digital Communication for the
upcoming 9th International Symposium on Intercultural, Cognitive and Social
Pragmatics, to be held next 6-8 May 2020 at Pablo de Olavide University in
Seville. We look forward to receiving your proposals.

Digital Communication:

Researchers’ interest in digital discourse analysis has increased tremendously
in the last decades (Androutsopoulous 2006, 2011; Bou-Franch and
Garcés-Conejos Blitvich 2019; Crystal 2006; Yus 2011, among many others). To
further the understanding of digital communication, we are proposing a
specialist panel for practitioners of pragmatics and related fields to present
work on their latest research. The panel topic can be approached from
different angles such as, but not exclusively:

- Digital service encounters.
- Digital discourse and education.
- Digital discourse and translation.
- Social Media
- Mobile applications
- Multimodality
- Electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM)
- Business and sharing economy platforms
- Interpersonal communication in digital communication

Please send your 300-word abstracts to the organizers:
Lucía Fernández-Amaya (lferama at upo.es), María de la O Hernández-López
(mariolahl at upo.es, and Bethany Aull (bethanyaull at gmail.com) by November 15,
2019. You will be notified of the reviewers’ decision by the end of November
2019.
