Description:

The Department of Linguistics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in Syntax.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research and
scholarship through high quality publications and national recognition. In the
area of teaching, the successful candidate will share a commitment to
instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels, development of
innovative courses and mentoring of students in research, outreach and
professional development. Successful candidates will also be expected to
broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate
through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement the richness of
diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into
instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing
pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles
and intellectual interests.

Minimim Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Linguistics or a related field; five
years of experience; a research focus on syntax in a generative framework; a
record of publications in journals, edited volumes or book series; ability to
teach graduate courses in syntax, and a range of courses in the Department's
undergraduate curriculum; active research interests integrating well with
those of the Department’s current faculty members; and a commitment to
promoting diversity through academic and research programs. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Rank of Associate or Full (or foreign equivalent) at current institution; a
record of publication in high profile or high impact journals or book series;
a record of invitations to speak at international conferences; evidence of
success in graduate teaching and advising such as publications and placement
record of supervised students.

Appointment Terms:
This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start
date of August 23, 2020. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will
be at the Storrs campus. This position carries a teaching load of two courses
per semester, as well as research, advising and other responsibilities. Salary
and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
