Description:

The Department of Romance and Classical Studies and the Second Language
Studies Program at Michigan State University invite applications for a
tenure-system position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16,
2020. We seek candidates specializing in Spanish Applied Linguistics and/or
Spanish Instructed Second Language Acquisition, or related areas.

The successful candidate will hold a primary appointment in the Spanish
Program; they will also be appointed in the Second Language Studies Program.
We seek candidates who can apply innovative research in Spanish language
instruction and have experience teaching Spanish at the undergraduate level,
teaching or supervising graduate students, and using instructional
technologies. They will develop and implement the methodological direction of
the basic language sequence in Spanish, and work closely with the Coordinator.

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. completed and in hand by the appointment
date; specialization in Spanish Applied Linguistics, Spanish Instructed SLA,
or a related field. Candidates must show promise of strong scholarship and
publication, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and the desire to work
collaboratively with faculty in fields within the Spanish and SLS programs and
the College of Arts and Letters. Native or near-native level fluency in
Spanish and English is required.
