The Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at the University of Macau is

The Applied Linguistics, Language, and Literacy lab, ran under the supervision
of Prof. Barry Lee Reynolds, is looking to recruit a PhD student to work on a
research project requiring the collection of eye-tracking data. The student
will work with the PI and other PhD and Master students to execute the
project. The project has three main directions of inquiry: incidental
vocabulary acquisition, contextual richness, and written corrective feedback.
We will use experimental methods involving eye-tracking to analyze adult
participants’ processing of targeted words and other AOI/ROI in connection
with more traditional offline data collection methods to gain insights into
the means leading to incidental vocabulary acquisition and second language
writing improvements. 

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from world ranked (QS World University Ranking top
400/Times Higher Education top 400) or first rate Chinese university (Double
First Class/985/211)
- Relevant Master Degree (e.g., Applied Linguistics, English Studies,
Psychology, Linguistics, Psycholinguistics)
- Knowledge of Eye-tracking research design and procedures
- Knowledge of SPSS and proficiency in statistics / quantitative methods
- Excellent English academic writing and communication skills
- Good communication and team-work abilities
Additional Valuable Skills:
- Knowledge of NVivo
- Knowledge of Endnote
- Knowledge of E-Prime
- Knowledge of qualitative research methods
- Knowledge of R
