Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Cognitive Science; Sociolinguistics

Call Deadline: 20-Apr-2020

Call for papers: Minority Languages

The 3nd 2020 issue of the journal Linguagem & Ensino is open for submission.
Papers should present studies on minority languages that address social,
psychological, and/or educational aspects of minority language use and
learning/acquisition. Here, ''minority (or minoritized) languages'' are
regarded as languages or varieties used in situations in which other languages
are perceived as socially dominant, at the local or the global level. This
definition includes a range of languages and varieties from indigenous,
afro-descendant, and immigration languages to sign and creole languages. We
encourage the submission of papers documenting empirical studies of the
following topics (while the scope of the volume is not limited to these
specific topics): use and vitality of minority language(s) in language contact
situations; political strategies supporting plurilingualism concerning
minority languages; descriptions of minority language variation and change;
cognitive processes regarding minority languages and language contact
situations; and minority language writing and learning/acquisition in a
multilingual context. Studies on any minority languages are welcome.
