The NLP & Speech research groups in ETS's Research & Development division is
hiring a Research Project Manager (RPM) to provide project management support,
especially in the context of NLP and Speech research and associated ETS
business relationships. The projects in the NLP & Speech research groups focus
on the application of NLP, speech, dialog, and multimodal processing

next-generation capabilities, and collaborating with academic and industry

clients.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Performing complex and connected research tasks and handling project
management in coordinating the logistics of multiple phases of
business/operational relationships (e.g., recruitment, scheduling, quality
checks, data collection, coding, annotation, managing data collection through
crowd-sourcing, payments, or linguistic analysis activities for NLP & Speech
data).
- Serving as liaison between project lead and other ETS departments, project
staff, and vendors and supporting the identification, recruitment, contact,
and selection of research sites and subjects.
- Developing, refining, coordinating and participating in the application of
guidelines (annotation protocols) to complete linguistic annotation tasks for
spoken and written language typically used in the context of automated
evaluation systems for text and speech.
- Organizing, verifying, and conducting quality control checks regarding data
collection and performing data analysis.
- Reviewing, editing, and revising proposals, manuscripts, presentations and
other written communications.

- Master's degree in linguistics, education, psychology, measurement,
statistics or related area. Coursework or experience in Statistics or Research
Methods, Computer Programming, Linguistics and/or Data Science is highly
desirable.
- Minimum of 6 years of research-related experience or a combination of
research experience and demonstrated knowledge in a relevant discipline are
required.
- Training in formal project management and/or certification and basic
technical scripting skills (e.g., Python), or an interest in learning these
skills are desired.

assistance and excellent opportunities for professional and personal growth.
