Meeting Description:

The West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics, or WCCFL (pronounced
/ˈwɪkfəl/) is an annual linguistics conference started in 1982, usually held
in the spring at a university in western North America. Research presented at
WCCFL can focus on any theoretical or formal aspect of natural language
analysis, including, but not limited to, phonetics, phonology, morphology,
syntax, semantics and discourse structure. WCCFL38, to be held at the
University of British Columbia, will include a main session as well as a
special session focused on indigenous languages of the western American
continents.


Final Call for Papers:

WCCFL abstract submission deadline extended to October 30.

The Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia is pleased
to invite abstracts for submission to the 38th West Coast Conference on Formal
Linguistics (WCCFL 38) to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada,
March 6-8, 2020.

Main Session: Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks and posters on all
aspects of theoretical linguistics.

Special Session -- Western American Indigenous Languages: Abstracts are
invited for 20-minute WCCFL talks on indigenous languages spoken to the west
of the mountains that form the spine of the American continents. Examples
include languages of the Pacific Northwest, California, western Mexico or
South America west of the Andes.

Maziar Toosarvandani, UC Santa Cruz (Special Session)

Instructions for Abstract Submission:

Abstracts are not to exceed two pages of letter-sized (8.5″x 11″) paper,
including data and references, with 1″ margins on all sides, set in a font no
smaller than 11 points. The abstract should have a clear title and should not
identify the author(s). Submissions are limited to one individual and one
joint abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author.

The abstract must be submitted electronically in PDF format, using our
Easychair electronic submission website.

Important Dates:

Abstract Submission deadline: October 30, 2019, 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time
Notification of acceptance: Mid-December, 2019
Conference date: March 6 - 8, 2020
