Meeting Description: 

Spelling vormt de laatste jaren steeds vaker een thema in de historische
taalkunde, waarbij zowel de spontane ontwikkeling van spellinggewoontes als de
gestuurde normering ervan interessante perspectieven op taal en maatschappij
biedt. Taal en Tongval, de Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal en
Letteren, het Pirenne Instituut en ΔiaLing brengen taalkundigen en historici
samen voor een interdisciplinair colloquium waarin historische tendensen en
ontwikkelingen in spelling, voornamelijk maar niet uitsluitend in het
Nederlands, het thema vormen. Daarbij wordt zowel naar de ontwikkelingen voor
als die sinds de opkomst van standaardtaal gekeken, van de middeleeuwen tot en
met de negentiende eeuw.

Tijdens het colloquium wordt ook een nieuw standaardwerk over
Middelnederlandse klankleer (en spelling), uitgegeven bij de KANTL,
voorgesteld aan het publiek: de Klankatlas van het veertiende-eeuwse
Middelnederlands. Het dialectvocalisme in de spelling van lokale oorkonden (De
Wulf 2019, https://lup.be/collections/ro_comingsoon/products/127475).

De bijeenkomst wordt dankzij de financiële ondersteuning van de volgende
partners mogelijk gemaakt:

- ΔiaLing / Diatopic and Diachronic Linguistics (UGent)
