Linguistic Field(s): Phonetics

Call Deadline: 01-Nov-2019

Meeting Description:

BAAP 2020 will be held at the University of York, 1 April to 3 April 2020,
with a day for workshops on 31 March 2020. The call for papers and workshops
is now active and open until 1 November 2019 (midnight UK time). More
information can be found on the conference website and on the EasyChair
submission page, https://easychair.org/cfp/BAAP2020.

Please address any queries regarding the conference directly to the organising
committee at baap2020 at york.ac.uk

1. Call for Papers

Submissions are welcome in any area of phonetics (and also in collaboration
with other disciplines). If you submit more than one abstract, you may only be
first author on one oral presentation and one poster presentation (no limits
on non-first-author submissions). Your abstract should be a maximum of one
page in length, including references and illustrations, and should not include
any personal information.

Please upload your submissions via EasyChair
(https://easychair.org/cfp/BAAP2020) and indicate whether you would prefer an
oral or poster presentation.

2. Call for Workshops

We have three rooms available for the entirety of 31 March to host workshops.
These workshops can be as formal or informal as you wish and can focus on any
topic. Our intention is simply to provide space for people to meet and to
share and discuss ideas in smaller groups. Some ideas for workshops include:

- Sharing teaching practice
- Transcription/ear training
- Data analysis methods
- Sharing research practices (e.g. what software you use for different tasks)
- Advice on the job market
- Approaches to big data

Space is offered in blocks of two hours and you are more than welcome to use
multiple blocks, depending on demand. If you would like space for a shorter
period of time, please let us know. We would also like to encourage workshop
suggestions from/for students. Finally, we would like to use one (or more) of
the blocks for a show and tell session. This may include new equipment,
software, methodological approaches or statistical techniques.

If you have an idea for a workshop or an item for the show and tell session,
please get in touch via email. You don't need to write a formal proposal. Just
let us know what you'd like to do and how much time you'll need.

The deadline for abstract submissions and workshop suggestions is 1 November
2019 (midnight UK time).

Summary of key dates:

1 November: deadline for submission of abstracts and workshop proposals
13 December: notifications of acceptance
January: registration opens
31 March: workshops
1-3 April: colloquium

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email.
