Description:

The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu
Fabra, Barcelona, invites applications for one tenure track faculty position
in the topical area of Spanish Linguistics/Applied Linguistics. We seek highly
qualified applicants with a strong commitment to excellence in research and
teaching.

The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research profile
matches some of the following areas related to the acquisition and learning of
Spanish: a) empirical approaches to acquisition and learning in bilingual and
multilingual contexts (experimental, corpus-based, sociolinguistic, etc.); b)
language learning methodologies for technology-mediated environments; c)
development of digital teaching/learning resources. The potential for
synergies between the applicant’s research and the department’s existing
research activity will be especially valued. The annual gross salary is ca.
34,000 €. A startup package of about 20,000€ is available contingent on the
evaluation of the candidate’s research project proposal.

Applicants must demonstrate capacity for teaching Peninsular Spanish (Spanish
Grammar and Linguistics) and for coordinating the teaching of these subjects
both at undergraduate and graduate levels (including Master’s and PhD
supervision).

Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of application, preferably in Spanish
(Applied) Linguistics or related disciplines, and must have demonstrated an
ability to conduct outstanding independent research with publications at an
international level.
