Job Location: Tübingen, Germany

Job Title: W3 Professorship of General Linguistics/ Pragmatics
Job Rank: Full Professor

Specialty Areas: General Linguistics; Pragmatics

Description:

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Tübingen invites applications
for a position at the Institute of Linguistics as a

W3 Professorship of General Linguistics/ Pragmatics

to commence on 1 October 2020.

The successful candidate must have outstanding academic credentials in the
area of General Linguistics, with a focus on formal and experimental
pragmatics. Proven excellence in both the application of cognitive modeling –
such as Bayesian methods – and in experimental psycholinguistics are required.
Because this professorship will have a leading role in the General
Linguistics, Computational Linguistics and Cognitive Science degree programs,
the future holder needs to be able to represent the full bandwidth of
Linguistics including all its interdisciplinary connections with the cognitive
sciences.

The successful candidate must be willing to acquire third-party funding and to
participate in collaborative third-party funded projects at the University.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent international degree and
postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure. This
includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The University of Tübingen is particularly interested in increasing the share
number of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages
women candidates to apply.

In line with its internationalization agenda, the university welcomes
applications from researchers outside Germany. Applications from equally
qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.

Send applications together with the required documents (curriculum vitae and
outline of academic career, copies of certificates and degrees, publications
list, list of teaching experience, overview of core research areas) in
electronic form to the Dean of the Faculty of the Humanities at the University
of Tübingen at the email for applications below. Enquiries may also be sent to
this address.
