Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign invites application for the English Placement Test (EPT)
Coordinator position. The EPT coordinator is responsible for the development,
administration, and validation of EPT and any assessment-related initiatives
in the ESL program. Additionally, the EPT Coordinator oversees the operational
management of EPT Testing Office and monitors research activities related to
EPT/ESL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Test administration and validation: Oversee all aspects of test administration
and validation. Communicate with stakeholders about the EPT and assessment
needs in the ESL program. 
Test development: Lead EPT Research Assistants to create test prompts.
Supervision: Supervise test-related work of testing office staff.
Rater training: Administer rater training for the EPT. Monitor rater
performance and make recommendations for improvements in rater training. 
Research: Oversee the implementation of EPT research and presentation
policies. Monitor EPT-related research and maintain EPT test databases. In the
absence of the EPT supervisor, serve as the Principal Investigator for
EPT-related research.
Teaching and committees: May teach in the Illinois TESOL program and serve on
Masters thesis and PhD dissertation committees.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Master’s degree in Second Language Studies, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or
Linguistics.
- Three years experience with ESL teaching or with language assessment.

Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Second Language Studies, Applied Linguistics, or Linguistics
Specializations: Language Testing and Assessment; Educational Measurement;
Applied Linguistics; Technology Enhanced Language Learning; Second Language
Writing and Speaking.
- Experience coordinating between standardized language tests and classroom
instruction.
- One year experience in academic program administration.
- A record of academic research and publication.
- Experience using current technologies for testing and instruction.
- Experience in working with international student population at the
university level.

Salary and Appointment Information:

This is a full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a
12 month service basis. The expected start date is August, 2020. Salary is
commensurate with experience and qualifications.
