Full Title: 12th International Conference of Experimental Linguistics
Short Title: ExLing 2021

Date: 11-Oct-2021 - 13-Oct-2021
Location: Athens, Greece
Contact Person: Antonis Botinis
Meeting Email: info at exlingsociety.com
Web Site: https://exlingsociety.com/

Linguistic Field(s): Clinical Linguistics

Call Deadline: 01-Jul-2021

Meeting Description:

The vision of the ExLing conferences focuses on the use and development of
experimental methodologies for the acquisition of linguistic knowledge and
overall language competence. The ExLing conferences place special emphasis on
the promotion of interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. A
third target of the ExLing conferences is the advancement of the
state-of-the-art research in the study of language while contributing to the
development of scientific expertise for new researchers.

We believe that the development of Experimental Linguistics is essential for
the new generation of linguists familiar with modern technology, experimental
designs and the use of digital signal processing. This context is expected to
provide new insights into various aspects of language and feed solid
theoretical hypotheses and considerations.

Our conferences are held in various venues every year for the discussion and
exchange of research results and ideas in a friendly environment, for frequent
ExLing participants and first-time participants alike. We also place special
care in the editing and publishing of ExLing proceedings. The scope of the
ExLing conferences reflects the continually broadening scope of experimental
disciplines, including new aspects of established disciplines, such as
Phonetics and Language Technology, as well as emerging disciplines, such as
Neurolinguistics and the study of Language and the Brain.

Keynote speakers will outline the state-of-the-art of main areas of
linguistics and discuss with participants respective aspects of current
research and methodological approaches:
 - Angela Friederici, Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain
Sciences, Germany
 - Ted Gibson, MIT, US
 - Robert Hartsuiker, Ghent University, Belgium
 - Charles Hulme, University of Oxford, UK
 - Martin Pickering, The University of Edinburgh, UK
 - Kathy Rastle, Royal Holloway University of London, UK

Call for Papers:

ExLing 2021 invites the submission of papers on substantial, original, and
unpublished research in all aspects of Experimental Linguistics, in accordance
with the 12th edition of the International Conference of Experimental
Linguistics, 11-13 October 2021, Athens, Greece.

ExLing 2021 aims to promote the exchange of ideas on innovative experimental
approaches to study language and to bring together professionals that apply
experimental and computational methods in language studies.

As usual, all presented papers will be published online in the 12th volume of
the ExLing proceedings series and selected papers will be uploaded on the
ExLing YouTube channel.

All experimental disciplines and subjects with reference to the study of
language are considered relevant to the conference with reference to
interdisciplinary works ranging from speech production and language
comprehension to cognitive linguistics and discourse analysis.

As it is now a tradition, ExLing 2021 will host two special sessions, one on
Language Education and one on Language Pathology.

Researchers and research groups regarding experimental linguistics and related
disciplines are welcome to submit abstracts at ExLing 2021 conference. Submit
abstracts here: https://abstracts.exlingsociety.com/
