The purpose of this conference is to build and sustain a dialogue among the
various disciplines engaged in the study of issues related to Africa and the
peoples of African ancestry in Brazil, the Spanish-speaking world and
French-speaking Caribbean communities. 

El objetivo de ICALLAS es mantener el diálogo entre las diversas disciplinas
que se comprometen al estudio de los asuntos relacionados con los
afrodescendientes en el mundo de habla española, portuguesa o francesa.


Call for Papers:

The purpose of this conference is to build and sustain a dialogue among the
various disciplines engaged in the study of issues related to Africa and the
peoples of African ancestry in Brazil, the Spanish-speaking world and
French-speaking Caribbean communities. The conference organizers are
soliciting a 150-word abstract for papers in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Papers addressing matters regarding peoples of African ancestry in the
Spanish-speaking, the Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking Caribbean
worlds are welcome. Broader questions in Latin American studies related to,
but not limited exclusively to, Afro-Hispanics will also be considered. Areas
of inquiry could include the following disciplines: Language Acquisition and
Pedagogy, Linguistics, especially Pidgin and Creole Languages, Literature,
Anthropology, History, Immigration, Art and Music, Sociology, etc.

El objetivo de ICALLAS es mantener el diálogo entre las diversas disciplinas
que se comprometen al estudio de los asuntos relacionados con los
afrodescendientes en el mundo de habla española, portuguesa o francesa. Se
solicitan, pues, resúmenes de 150 palabras de extensión para ponencias en
inglés, español o portugués sobre temas al respecto. Asimismo, se considerarán
cuestiones más amplias dentro del ámbito de estudios latinoamericanos
relacionados, pero no limitados, a afrodescendientes. Posibles áreas de
investigación son Adquisición y Pedagogía de lenguas, Lingüística (lenguas
pidgin y criollas), Antropología, Literatura, Historia, Inmigración, Arte y
Música, Sociología, etc.
Plazo último para enviar resúmenes: 15 de abril de 2020. Favor de enviar los
