Full Title: Stellenbosch Papers in Linguistics Plus

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 04-May-2020

Call for Contributions:
Special issue of Stellenbosch Papers in Linguistics Plus (Southern African
Microlinguistics Workshop (SAMWOP)-8)

The 8th Southern African Microlinguistics Workshop (SAMWOP-8) was held at the
University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa) from 28th-30th November
2019. As with all SAMWOP events, this SAMWOP workshop aimed to bring together
linguists working in Southern African microlinguistics (broadly defined as
linguistics which focuses on the structure of language as opposed to, for
example, its sociological or educational role in society). This includes
researchers based in Southern Africa working in various areas of linguistics,
as well as those based elsewhere working on Southern African languages. As
usual a special issue of Stellenbosch Paper in Linguistics Plus (SPIL:
https://spil.journals.ac.za/pub) has been set aside to showcase articles based
on papers presented at SAMWOP-8; but we also welcome any other contributions
which tie in with the main focus of the workshop series. The aim is to have
this issue out by the end of 2020 or early 2021. The due date for the
submission of first drafts is 4 May 2020 and submissions can be sent to the
guest-editor, Prof Ian Bekker, at ian.bekker at nwu.ac.za. If you are planning to
submit it would also be helpful if you could alert us of your intention by
sending a brief message to the same e-mail address.
