Meeting Description:

The Institute for Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ILS
RAS) announces the Second Conference on Uralic, Altaic and Paleo-Asiatic
languages. The Conference will take place at the Institute for Linguistic
Studies in Saint Petersburg (Tuchkov per., 9) on October 8-10, 2020. This
Conference is held regularly every second year.

A tentative list of topics on Uralic, Altaic and Paleo-Asiatic languages to be
discussed at the conference includes:
1) Phonology, grammar and lexicon.
2) Language contacts.
3) Sociolinguistic and ethnolinguistic studies.
4) Comparative and historical studies.
5) Corpora studies.


Call for Papers: 

Workshop proposals are welcome. The topic of a workshop should be more
specific than a simple indication of a language or a language group/family.
Proposals for workshops should be sent to the e-mail address
langrus.spb at gmail.com no later than April 10, 2020. Every proposal should
contain a description of the workshop plus either full abstracts (3600
characters; see the requirements for the abstracts below) or short annotations
for at least 8 talks. The participants of the workshop should submit the final
abstract before May 15, 2020 in case the workshop is included in the
conference program. The organizing committee will notify on the acceptance /
rejection of the workshop before April 20, 2020.

Anonymous abstracts for participation in the general session or in a workshop
should be sent to langrus.spb at gmail.com no later than May 15, 2020. Abstracts
must not exceed 3600 characters (with spaces), including examples, diagrams,
tables and the list of references. Abstracts should be sent in one of the
following formats: .doc, .docx or .rtf. If non-standard fonts are used, they
should be attached to the letter, and a .pdf version should be also attached.
The letter should contain the name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the
author/s; and state whether the presentation is planned at a workshop or at
the general session. Each participant may submit no more than two papers, only
one of which can be single-authored. The Organizing Committee will select
abstracts based on a double-blind revision procedure. Notifications of the
acceptance / rejection will be sent to the authors no later than June 15,
2020.

Length of presentations: 30 minutes (20 minutes talk + 10 minutes discussion).
Conference languages: Russian and English.
There is no registration fee for participation in the conference.
Unfortunately, the organizing committee will not be able to reimburse expenses
for travel and accommodation.
A collection of abstracts will be published by the beginning of the
Conference.

April 10, 2020 - deadline for workshop proposals
April 20, 2020 - notification of acceptance / rejection of workshop proposals
May 15, 2020 - deadline for the submission of abstracts (both workshops and
general session)
June 15, 2020 - notification of acceptance / rejection of abstracts
October 8-10, 2020 - Conference
