Meeting Description:

This workshop aims to explore different notions surrounding language contact.
In particular, we aim at exploring the linguistic (not sociolinguistic)
consequences that one can observe in situations where two languages are in
contact, with special attention to language contact situations in which one
language is a minoritized one (for example, Basque, Catalan or Galician in
contact with Spanish; Occitan or Breton in contact with French; American
indigenous languages in contact with Spanish or Portuguese, and so on).
Abstracts are invited for oral presentations (30 minute presentation, plus 10
minute question period) on any topic (also with a diachronic perspective) that
contributes to improving our understanding of language contact from the
perspective of its linguistic implications, especially in the case of
asymmetric language contact, where one language is a minoritized language.

Mari Carmen Parafita Couto (Universiteit Leiden)
Anna Pineda (Sorbonne Université)
